The 2018 S.H. Figuarts 'Son Gokou' is the first figure of Kid Goku by the brand, with a regular release, and it introduced innovative joint architecture for small or child-like figures. Its sculpt is also completely new and came packed with accessories: a Dragon Ball, his Nyoibo, and even the Kinton cloud, making it truly one of a kind.
This 'Son Gokou' figure was released in 2018 with a regular release and had several restocks, making it the 48th figure in the S.H. Figuarts Dragon Ball collection.
First, this is the first figure Tamashii Nations released from the 'DB Classic Saga', meaning from when Goku and Bulma were children. It is also the first figure they released with a 'kid' body for a character, developing a new type of joint architecture based on the 2.0 version but with less space for the joints, giving us the Kid 1.0 body that would be reused until the arrival of 'Chaoz' and Goku 'GT'.
It is also the first Kid Goku figure they released, and for this version, they brought us Goku as he appears in the first or second martial arts tournament, where we see him in this Turtle School outfit.
Its accessories are the envy of the rest of the collection's figures, as it comes packed with hands, enough faces, 2 tails, the Nyoibo and its sheath, and best of all, the Kinton Cloud, which includes a stand to pose Goku in all his glory.
There are three other Kid Goku figures from the classic or original DB stage, and all four use the same sculpt, differing in the outfit tone or color. The 2023 version uses the same outfit with a different tone, and the 2020 and 2019 'Event Exclusive Color Edition' versions feature his blue outfit from the first arc.
The problem with this Goku 'Kid' and the other three mentioned is the 'Scale', as it is too off, being too tall and having a large head. After the DB Daima releases and its new architecture and scale improvements, this Goku mold has fallen behind, although it remains a very good figure.
From Listacompletade.com, we recommend this figure only if you find it at a good price, as it is definitely worth it just for the cloud accessory, which we won't see again until the 2024 events when they released the Goku and Gohan figures with a larger and improved Kinton Cloud.
