This S.H. Figuarts – Mecha Frieza from 2024 brings us the version of Frieza who arrived on Earth with his father in DBZ and was defeated by Future Trunks. The figure features a 100% new sculpt and design, with a 3.0 articulation system, and stands out for including a second body split in half to recreate that specific scene.
This articulated figure – Mecha Frieza – was released in 2024 as a Tamashii Web Exclusive and is figure number 167 in the Dragon Ball S.H. Figuarts collection.
Among all the Frieza figures released, this version of the villain was one few expected to see. But in 2024, the brand finally decided to release the Mecha version of the tyrant, just as he appeared at the start of the Android and Cell saga in Dragon Ball Z.
This Frieza is practically a must-have to pair with the 2023 SSJ Trunks figure, allowing collectors to recreate several scenes from their brief battle. Also, in October of the same year, 2024, the King Cold figure was released, covering the entire beginning of the Android and Cell saga.
The figure features an entirely new sculpt and design, built with the 3.0 articulation system, which works extremely well.
In terms of accessories, it includes a good variety of hands and heads — the heads are full replacements rather than faceplates. A quirky detail: the cybernetic protrusions on his head are removable and must be swapped between the four heads. A bit odd, likely done to save plastic.
The standout feature is the inclusion of a second body with a support stand. This second body isn’t articulated and requires attaching the main body’s arms and legs. It’s sculpted to appear sliced in half, allowing you to recreate the moment when Trunks cuts Frieza with his sword, just before finishing him off with a ki blast.
As a bonus detail: while that second body is visually impressive, it’s essentially a static figure — but it works great as a display piece.
According to listacompletade.com, this is a recommended figure for completionists, for anyone wanting all of Frieza’s forms, or fans of this particular saga. It’s a form with limited impact in the broader Dragon Ball franchise, but a fun and striking addition.
