This S.H. Figuarts King Cold brings us Frieza’s father, just as we saw him at the beginning of the Android and Cell saga in Dragon Ball Z. The figure features a completely new design and sculpt, uses the 3.0 body articulation system, and is notably larger than Frieza (First Form). Among the accessories, the standout is the throne where he is first seen sitting in the anime.
This articulated figure — King Cold — was released in 2024 as a Tamashii Web Exclusive, being figure number 179 in the S.H. Figuarts Dragon Ball collection.
It is the first figure Tamashii has made of Frieza’s father, based on his first appearance in Dragon Ball Z at the start of the Android and Cell saga, when he arrives with his son to seek revenge and is ultimately defeated by Trunks’ sword.
The figure has a completely new design and sculpt, featuring a 3.0 articulation system. Its scale is quite good, standing about 22 cm tall, taller than the 2023 Frieza Second Form figure.
As for accessories, it’s quite complete: it includes the throne where we first see him sitting in the series; two capes (one for sitting on the throne); two heads with two faces each (which have a small flaw — if fitted too tightly, the eyes become hidden); multiple hands; a tail with 3 articulation points; and finally, Trunks’ sword to recreate the scene where the young warrior lends it to the cold demon.
At listacompletade.com, we recommend this figure mainly to collectors and fans of these characters, since despite being the father of DB’s biggest villain, his relevance in the series is quite minor. Also, to fully pose the figure, it’s ideal to have SSJ Trunks ‘Boy from the Future’ and Mecha Frieza to complete the set or scenes 100%.
