This S.H. Figuarts release, 'Tenshihan & Chaoz', brought us the second version of Ten and the first articulated figure for Chaoz. Ten Shin Han has a 2.5 body by reusing parts from the previous figure, while Chaoz features a 100 % original body and a new joint architecture for small figures — Kid 2.0 — with a perfectly accurate scale.
These articulated Tenshihan & Chaoz figures were released as a pack in 2021, as a Tamashii Web Exclusive, marking the 111th release in the Dragon Ball S.H. Figuarts collection.
This is the brand’s second release of these two characters. The first release was in 2017 and was inspired by the Saiyan Saga. Tien’s body in that release was a 2.0 version and featured a shirtless design. That first release included a static Chaoz figure as an accessory.
This 2021 release is also based on DBZ, but this time from the Android and Cell Saga, which is why Tien now features a "half-shirt" on his chest.
The design of Tenshinhan reuses much of the first version, except for the chest and left shoulder, which for the first time implements the 3.0 articulation system. This system is notable for integrating the sleeves into the articulation itself, rather than having them as separate, clip-on parts — a common feature in 2.0 figures.
For Chaoz, a completely new design and sculpt were created. Additionally, a new joint system for small figures has been implemented. On listacompletade.com, we refer to it as the 'Kid 2.0' body, which seems to borrow elements from the 3.0 legs and female figure arms. This new body moves away from what we saw in 2018’s Kid Krillin or Kid Goku figures. With this new design, the joints are much better hidden, offering improved articulation and a look more appropriate to scale. The scaling is finally accurate, as the Kid 1.0 bodies were oversized.
Speaking of scale and Kid bodies, the GT Kid Goku figure later improved the system with the Kid 3.0 body, and the mini figures from Daima introduced the Kid 4.0.
Returning to this release, while it doesn’t particularly stand out for its accessories, Tien comes with more than enough heads and faces, and Chaoz includes several interchangeable hands. So, for a two-figure pack, there’s little to complain about.
Here at listacompletade.com, we 100 % recommend this figure — provided you can find it at a fair price — because even though it's been a while since its release, it's still a great set featuring one of the most iconic Z Warriors.
