This S.H. Figuarts – Super Saiyan Son Gohan "The fighter who surpassed Goku" – from 2024 brings a new version of the Gohan who faced Cell. The figure features a new design and sculpt, and includes the 3.5 articulation system with a rubber chest vest. It also includes a fabric cape as a new addition and two interchangeable hairpieces, one of them wind-swept.
This articulated figure – Super Saiyan Son Gohan "The fighter who surpassed Goku" – was released in 2024 as a regular edition and has since received several restocks. It is figure number 166 in the Dragon Ball S.H. Figuarts collection.
If we look at all the figures Tamashii Nations has released of Son Gohan, this is the second figure based on the moments before and during the Cell Games in Dragon Ball Z. The first was released in 2010 under the name SSJ Son Gohan and was later re-released as a "Special Color" version for SDCC 2012.
The original version used a 1.0 body with design and sculpt typical of that era. This 2024 figure, however, features a completely new sculpt and design, built on a 3.5 articulation system. Notably, it includes a chest joint hidden beneath a rubber vest, and the groin area is also made of rubber to allow better movement of the waist and hips.
As for accessories, it’s a very complete figure: excellent facial expressions and a good number of hands. It includes a fabric cape—the first in the line to feature a cloth accessory—and two hairpieces, one with a wind-swept effect.
Compared to the 2010 version, this 2024 release surpasses it in every way. The only thing that might be missed is the SSJ2 hair, which the 2010 figure included. However, this new version still comes with two hairpieces, one featuring a dynamic wind effect.
According to listacompletade.com, this is a highly recommended figure and a must-have in any collection, as it represents the best version of Gohan seen throughout Dragon Ball Z.
