This S.H. Figuarts – Super Saiyan Son Goku 'Legendary Super Saiyan' from 2023 brings us the Goku who fought Frieza minutes before Namek's destruction. The figure features an entirely new design and sculpt, with a 3.0 articulation system that delivers impressive results. It also includes 2 hairpieces and 3 bangs.
This articulated figure – Super Saiyan Son Goku 'Legendary Super Saiyan' – was released in 2023 with a regular run, having had some re-stocks since then. It is also figure number 157 in the S.H. Figuarts collection.
Among all the Goku figures released up to this one, this is the second 'Goku' with a 3.0 body, the previous being Goku SSJ4 'GT' from 2021. It is also the second figure based on Dragon Ball Z and the Namek saga, specifically the “5-minute” battle against Frieza before the planet's destruction. The first figure released from this moment was the Goku Warrior from 2015, which was re-released as an Exclusive Edition in 2023.
The main difference between the Goku Warrior figure and this Legendary Goku is that, although both are based on the same battle and saga, they represent different moments: the Warrior represents the start of the fight, just after transforming into Super Saiyan, and this figure represents the end of the battle, when both Frieza and Goku are at their peak muscular form. That’s why this figure is much more muscular and no longer wears a vest, while the Warrior has less musculature and still keeps part of the vest.
Now, regarding the figure itself: its design and sculpts are completely new for this Goku, finally moving away from the 2.0 Gokus. As mentioned, it uses the 3.0 joint system, very well implemented, giving it great mobility. As for accessories, it doesn’t hold back, including many hands, 4 faces, 3 bangs for its two hairstyles, and a Kame Hame Ha.
To accompany this figure, Full Power Frieza was released in 2024, featuring the villain in his fourth form but fully muscular.
In 2025, under a Best Selection run, this figure was re-released with far fewer accessories and at a lower cost: fewer faces, fewer hands, and only 1 hairstyle.
From listacompletade.com, it’s a 100% recommended figure for everyone, as it has no flaws. For more, if you want to see an unboxing with comparison, I invite you to watch the video from our friend on the YouTube channel El Cuarto 4to Gamer MX, who happily shows it off.
