This S.H. Figuarts – Son Goku Ultra Instinct 'Toyotaro Edition' –, released in 2024, brings us UI Goku based on Toyotaro's drawings from the Dragon Ball Super manga. In addition, to commemorate the brand's 15th anniversary, the Figupedia is included, featuring information on all the Dragon Ball figure releases the brand has made over these 15 years.
This articulated figure – Son Goku Ultra Instinct 'Toyotaro Edition' – was released in 2023 as a Tamashii Web Exclusive, being figure number 163 in the Dragon Ball S.H. Figuarts collection.
This release is special, as it commemorates the brand's 15th anniversary by bringing Dragon Ball releases, with Toyotaro collaborating to design the main box art.
Additionally, it includes the first version and edition of the 'Figupedia', a softcover encyclopedia-style book (photos in the gallery), compiling photos and information on all figures and releases from the 2009 Piccolo to the 2024 Mecha Frieza, totaling 167 figures and other releases like accessories or vehicles.
The figure's design and sculpt reuse the body from the 2020 UI Goku figure, which was based on the Dragon Ball Super anime during the Tournament of Power/Multiversal arc. Thus, it’s a competent figure with a 2.0 body, but only the body is reused; the 4 faces are completely new, based on Toyotaro’s drawings. Unlike the original, this figure includes 2 hairpieces, one with a wind or movement effect, also based on Toyotaro’s illustrations, plus a recolor with more detail and shading.
From listacompletade.com, it’s a figure recommended for completists and those who missed the 2020 version, as this one is much better. Also, if you’re a true collector, you’ll want the Figupedia in your collection.
Besides all this, if you want an unboxing with comparison, I invite you to watch the video by our friend from the YouTube channel El Cuarto 4to Gamer MX, who gladly shows it.
Here you will see some of the more than 200 S.H. Figuarts releases that Tamashii Nations has brought us from Dragon Ball.
