This 2022 S.H. Figuarts Son Gohan "Battle Clothes" brings us the character as we saw him on Namek, wearing the Frieza Force battle armor. This figure introduces a new Kid body architecture, version 1.5, which improves both scale and aesthetics compared to the previous one. As for accessories, it stands out for including two hairstyles, one of them featuring a dynamic motion effect.
This articulated figure, Son Gohan "Battle Clothes," was released in 2022 as a Tamashii Web Exclusive, and it is the 134th figure in the Dragon Ball S.H. Figuarts collection.
This is the second figure of this character released by the brand, based on his appearance during the Namek saga of Dragon Ball Z. The first was the so-called "Kid Era" from 2020, which showed Gohan in the first outfit given to him by Piccolo, worn at the beginning of the saga. That figure used a Kid 1.0 body. In this version, he is wearing the battle armor given to him by Vegeta.
The figure features an entirely new design and sculpt—although decent overall, the head came out just “okay.” For articulation, the figure introduces a new system inspired by the 2.0 and 3.0 adult body types, which we’ll call Kid 1.5 (since Kid 2.0 was used in the 2021 Chiaotzu figure). This new system improves scale slightly—though it still isn’t accurate—and does a better job hiding the joints, though at the cost of leg mobility.
In terms of accessories, the figure stands out for including two hairstyles, one with a motion effect, and an alternate chest armor piece that greatly improves the range of the butterfly joint articulation.
In conclusion, it’s a figure that looks nice and delivers, but still suffers significantly from scaling issues like all Kid 1.0 bodies. Fortunately, as of now—especially with the release of DB Daima and its “mini” figures featuring the Kid 4.0 body—this scale problem no longer exists.
From listacompletade.com, this figure is recommended only for completionists and die-hard Gohan fans, as it’s not his most iconic appearance, and the oversized head and poor scale leave much to be desired.
