This 2023 S.H. Figuarts - Super Saiyan Trunks ‘Boy from the Future’ figure brings us Future Trunks as he first appeared in DBZ. It features a completely new design and sculpt, built with a 3.0 body structure. Additionally, it comes loaded with accessories, most notably two hairstyles: one in base form and one in Super Saiyan form.
This articulated figure – Super Saiyan Trunks ‘Boy from the Future’ – was released in 2023 as a regular release and has had several restocks since. It is the 144th figure in the S.H. Figuarts Dragon Ball collection.
This is the second figure or design that Tamashii Nations has released of Future Trunks in his ‘First Appearance’ version, as seen in Dragon Ball Z when he faced Mecha Frieza. The first version, with a 1.0 body, had two releases: the original, simply titled ‘Trunks’, in 2012, and a 2016 re-release under the name ‘Premium Color Edition’. Of those two, the 2012 version came with far more accessories than both the 2016 release and this 2023 version.
The design and sculpt of this new version are entirely new. The figure has been completely revamped in every aspect, offering a much more aesthetically pleasing look that far surpasses the original version. It also features the 3.0 body articulation system, allowing for poses that were previously impossible.
As for accessories, it’s a very complete figure: it includes plenty of hands, his sword with its sheath, and both hairstyles and faceplates to display him in base form as well.
The first downside compared to the 2012 and 2013 editions is that this version is noticeably taller; the 1.0 version had a more accurate scale (you can see the difference in the photo gallery). The second downside is that the 2012 version included more faceplates for the base form hair.
From listacompletade.com, this figure is 100% recommended: first, because it’s a fantastic figure and the most iconic representation of the character; and second, because being a regular release, it’s relatively affordable and easy to find.
