This S.H. Figuarts release — Super Saiyan 2 Son Gohan & Super Saiyan Son Goku — was launched exclusively for SDCC 2023 and brings us a 2-figure pack to recreate the iconic Father-Son Kamehameha. Both figures are repaints of their original versions, with slight improvements in the detailing of Gohan and Goku, and the Goku figure is translucent.

Details and curiosities about this Goku and Gohan SDCC 2023 figure pack
This articulated figure pack — Super Saiyan 2 Son Gohan & Super Saiyan Son Goku — was released as an Exclusive Edition for SDCC 2023, and it is also the 149th release in the Dragon Ball S.H. Figuarts collection.
Like other exclusive event releases, this pack features repaints of previously released figures but comes as a 2-pack. The figures are based on the 2017 Super Saiyan Son Gohan and the 2021 Super Saiyan Full Power Son Goku. The pack is designed to recreate the famous Dragon Ball Z Father-Son Kamehameha scene.
As mentioned, their design, sculpt, and body type are identical to the originals. The differences lie in the coloring and finish of some details. For example, Gohan’s outfit is a more intense color, his skin is lighter, and he features added battle damage. The faces are improved, and his hair is translucent. For Goku, the color is ghostly, and his entire plastic is semi-translucent, with improved faces compared to the original.
In terms of accessories, it’s a complete set: Goku brings exactly the same accessories as the original except for one faceplate, and Gohan comes with one less face and hairpiece but includes a Kamehameha effect that fits onto a hand.
From listacompletade.com, this pack is only recommended for fans of the Father-Son Kamehameha scene and completists, as Goku’s figure doesn’t add much beyond that scene, and most of his faces and hands are unnecessary except for those used in the scene. They could have added more for Gohan.
