In 2001, Microsoft released its first console, the Xbox, entering the video game market to compete with other sixth-generation consoles, such as the PS2, GameCube, and Dreamcast.
On this page, you can discover the complete list of Dragon Ball games released for this console, as well as all its versions and accessories.
Sadly, few Dragon Ball games made it to the original Xbox; so few that we only had DBZ: Sagas in 2005. An RPG adventure game with battles in a 3D environment.
The original Xbox was released in 2001 and, unlike other consoles, had only a single model, with no “Slim” versions or hardware revisions during its lifecycle.
What truly set it apart was its powerful hardware, capable of bringing the gaming experience closer to what had previously only been seen on PCs, and its online support through Xbox Live, which enabled easy and stable online matches—a revolutionary feature at the time.
You may already have at home a console from when you were younger, or you may have inherited it from a friend or family member, or perhaps you bought it second-hand, but… you’re still missing some accessory or peripheral to be able to play with it, like an adapter or a controller…
So here’s a list of the things you might need to play your almost retro console.

The PlayStation 2 (Super Slim or Slim 2) was the third and final model of Sony’s second console, released in 2007, when the PS3 was already on the horizon.
This version, known as the Slim 2 or Super Slim, also had a few revisions but is mainly identified as model SCPH-90000.
It differs from the previous Slim by being more affordable due to cost reductions, and visually by featuring a half-length smooth strip on the top instead of a full one.
Technically, both consoles are very similar in performance and efficiency.
The Nintendo GameCube, or DOL-001, was the sixth-generation console released by Nintendo to replace the N64 and compete against the PS2 and the Xbox.
The console supports connections for up to four controllers and memory cards, as well as other peripherals to connect with other consoles like the GBA.
The console had several special editions, such as Pokémon or Metal Gear Solid, but none for Dragon Ball.
It is the first home console to replace cartridges with discs, but these are special 8 cm discs developed by and for Nintendo, meaning the console cannot play CDs or DVDs.
The console has region locks, and neither games nor memory cards are compatible between consoles and games from different regions. However, there are methods like Freeloader or tinkering with the console to bypass these locks and play your games for collection purposes.
The Nintendo Entertainment System, also known as the NES, was the version released for the West (Europe and America) of the first home console with interchangeable cartridges launched by Nintendo in Japan, the Famicom, which was released in 1983. These NES units were released in 1985 in the USA and in 1986 in Europe.
This sister edition to the Japanese one received a complete redesign for marketing reasons, which is why it has a different name and colors. Also, the cartridges for this model, the NES, are larger and have more pins than the Japanese ones, so they are not compatible. Furthermore, Nintendo incorporated a chip to detect the game region so that Japanese or American region games could not be used on the European console, and vice versa for the American one.
Therefore, regarding official Dragon Ball games and releases, they will not be compatible since they are all Japanese, not even with an adapter.
The console included 2 controllers that, unlike the Japanese version, could be removed from the console. There are versions that also sold a gun alongside the console, but it is not used in any DB game.
The colors of the NES model were gray and black, and the cartridges were inserted from the front of the console (like old VHS tapes). As mentioned, these cartridges are larger and have more pins than the Japanese versions.
This model, unlike the Famicom, features RF (antenna cable) and AV video outputs.
The PS Vita Slim (PCH-2000) is the second version released of this console, characterized by being thinner than the previous version, with some redesigned buttons, but the most important novelty was the inclusion of OLED technology in the screen.
The PlayStation 4 Pro was unveiled on September 7, 2016, and officially released worldwide on November 10 of the same year. Designed for players seeking more power, this version took the PS4 to another level.
Its larger, more robust design housed a much more powerful GPU, capable of reaching around 4.2 teraflops, along with a slightly boosted CPU. Thanks to this, it offered enhanced graphics, support for 4K resolution through “checkerboard rendering”, and full HDR compatibility, making colors and visual effects stand out like never before.
With a 1 TB hard drive as standard and notable improvements in cooling and overall performance, the PS4 Pro became the best way to enjoy demanding games. In titles like Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, the difference was clear: sharper environments, more vibrant energy effects, and a visual experience worthy of Toriyama’s universe.
Dragon Ball Z: Raging Blast is the second DBZ game released for the PS3, launched at the end of 2009, and was also released for Xbox 360.
This is a 3D fighting game, very similar to the Budokai Tenkaichi or Sparking! series from the PS2, but with much better graphics and similar gameplay.
Its story covers everything from the Saiyan Saga to the Majin Buu Saga, encompassing all of DBZ, and also brings back the “What If…” mode, allowing players to explore alternate storylines.
The game features both local and online multiplayer modes, for battles with friends or players online.
It includes a total of 45 playable characters, including Goku, Piccolo, Trunks, Cell, Broly, Boo, and more.

The Nintendo DS Lite is a slimmer, more stylish version of the original, featuring a brighter screen and longer battery life. Perfect for gamers looking for portability without sacrificing performance.
Dragon Ball: RPG is one of the first games released for Android and iOS mobile devices. It is an RPG adventure game where we go through the entire Dragon Ball story. Its gameplay is very similar to the classic Final Fantasy games. In 2010, it received an expansion that allows you to complete the story from the beginning to the end of DB and DBZ.
Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z – Collector’s Edition was a special version of the game that included the base game, a Super Saiyan Goku statue, an art book, and an exclusive outfit inspired by Naruto’s Sage Mode.
