The Xbox Series X|S consoles and the Dragon Ball and DBZ games released

All the Dragon Ball game releases we’ve had for the Xbox Series X|S, such as DB Sparking! Zero

In November 2020, Microsoft released its fourth console, the Xbox Series X|S, with two different models from launch: Series X and Series S, each targeting a different audience, with the Series X being the more powerful of the two.

On this page, we will see the complete list of Dragon Ball games released for these consoles, as well as all their DLCs, the consoles required to play them, and some accessories.

Dragon Ball and DBZ games released for the Xbox Series X|S

The complete list of Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z games released for the Xbox Series X|S is not very extensive, as to date only 4 titles have been officially released for this generation of consoles: FighterZ, Kakarot, Xenoverse 2, and Sparking! Zero.

These 4 games are the only ones released with graphical enhancements compared to their Xbox One versions, but it’s important to remember that these consoles were launched fully backward compatible with all previous Xbox consoles through your Xbox account. For example, many Xbox One titles, when installed on these consoles, receive graphical improvements, and all of them work on the Series X|S.

The different versions and models of the Xbox Series X|S console

Todos los Videojuegos de Dragon Ball para la Xbox - Series X-S- Lista Completa

To enjoy Dragon Ball games on Xbox, the first thing we need is an Xbox Series X or Series S. Both belong to Microsoft’s current generation of consoles, and while they share the same game library, they differ in power, design, and focus. The Series X is the most powerful model, capable of delivering native 4K resolution, a disc drive, and up to 2 TB of storage in its latest versions. On the other hand, the Series S is all-digital, featuring a more compact size, lower graphical capacity, and storage options of 512 GB or 1 TB.

Over the years, Microsoft has released several revisions —such as the Series X All-Digital and the 1 TB Series S— that maintain the same core performance while improving design, efficiency, and capacity. These consoles are the gateway to experiencing the most spectacular battles in the Dragon Ball saga, with optimized versions of games like Kakarot, FighterZ, and Sparking! ZERO.

That said… here they are.

Dragon Ball: The Breakers

Dragon Ball: The Breakers is a survival multiplayer game, whose genre is called "Asymmetrical Survival Multiplayer (1 Raider vs. 7 Survivors)", in this case it will always be 1 vs 7.

The Raider or Hunter aims to eliminate all Survivors or Prey, while the latter must hide around the map, use items and vehicles to survive the hunter or raider.

In this case, being a Dragon Ball game, the hunters are represented by Dragon Ball villains like Cell, Frieza, or Majin Buu, who evolve and change form (e.g., Cell 1st form becomes Cell 2nd form and then reaches his final or perfect form) as the match progresses.

The survivors or prey must play as a team to survive. They can choose from some DB characters and original ones from the game. Their goal is to activate "the time machine" and escape, as many as can make it.

The game, besides Xbox One, is also available on: PS4, PC, PS5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch.

Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO (Game-Key Card)

Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero (Game-Key Card) contains exactly the same as the physical cartridge version sold for Switch 1, but this is a digital version with a box and a card with a key to acquire the game on our console.

This edition only differs from the cartridge version in the branded logo, which here is exclusively decorated for Switch 2, and it includes a key instead of a cartridge (remember that the cartridge on Switch 2 requires a graphical upgrade update, but not on Switch 1).

Game-Key Cards can only be inserted into the Switch 2 to activate the digital game. But remember the game is backward compatible, and if we have it on our Nintendo account, we will have it on both consoles.

Dragon Ball: Daimaō Fukkatsu

Dragon Ball: Daimaō Fukkatsu is the second game/cartridge of Dragon Ball released for the NES in 1988, while the DB anime and manga were still airing. Officially, it never left Japan.

It is a card battle game where we move around a map to earn cards, fight opponents, and progress through the story.

The story tells the events of the Piccolo Daimaō Saga from classic Dragon Ball, but with many creative liberties. For example, the story begins with Krillin’s death, but at Kame House, instead of during the Tenkaichi Budokai.

A game for true enthusiasts of the card game genre.

Dragon Ball Z Gaiden: Saiya-jin Zetsumetsu Keikaku

Dragon Ball Z Gaiden: Saiya-jin Zetsumetsu Keikaku is the eighth Dragon Ball game/cartridge released for the NES in 1993, the fifth to carry the Z title, and the last game dedicated to this franchise on this console. This game was never officially released outside Japan.

It is the direct continuation of Dragon Ball Z III: Ressen Jinzōningen, and shares the same gameplay system, with minor improvements. It is a turn-based card battle RPG, where players move across the map to collect new cards, progress through the story, and engage in battles.

Its story, unlike the previous games, does not follow the manga or anime. It features a completely original plot, where a new villain named Dr. Raichi, a Tsufur scientist, seeks revenge against the Saiyans for destroying his race, and creates clones or ghost projections of past villains like Frieza and Slug to fight the Z Warriors.

The story of this game became so popular that an OVA was later created based on it, and it was also adapted to other consoles.

Nintendo Gamecube (DOL-101)

The Nintendo GameCube, or DOL-101, was a revision of the first GameCube made to reduce costs and make it slightly cheaper; it was released 3 years after the original.

Essentially and visually, it is the same console: it supports connections for up to four controllers and memory cards, but it has lost the peripheral ports that allowed interconnection with other consoles like the GBA.

This console weighs less and removes the AV-Digital port, Serial 2, the back panel is always black regardless of the console’s color, and the GameCube logo is no longer removable.

In addition, this revision was only released in Japan and America, and it keeps the original’s region lock. Therefore, neither games nor memory cards are compatible between consoles and games from different regions, but there are methods like Freeloader or tinkering with the console to bypass these locks and play your games for collection purposes.
