This S.H. Figuarts – Future Trunks ‘Super Saiyan’ 'Exclusive Edition', released during San Diego Comic-Con 2024, brought back Future Trunks as seen in Dragon Ball Super. The figure is a re-release of the 2018 version, with the same sculpt and 2.0 articulation, fewer accessories, and only the SSJ hairstyle, but with metallic colors and improved faces.
This articulated figure – Future Trunks ‘Super Saiyan’ 'Exclusive Edition' – was released exclusively for San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) 2024, being the 172nd figure in the S.H. Figuarts Dragon Ball collection.
Like most event exclusives, this figure is a re-release of a previously successful figure with a repaint. Sometimes these come with notable improvements or differences, but to many’s disappointment, this one only repaints and actually removes content, since the original figure included more accessories.
This Future Trunks model is based on Dragon Ball Super, the Black Goku saga, and the original figure was named 'Trunks' and released in 2018. That version included two hairstyles, SSJ and Base form, and two faces for each hairstyle. The SDCC version only includes the SSJ hairstyle but does have four faces for SSJ, with a significant improvement over the originals.
Besides the two hairstyles, the original also came with the 'Genki Sword' and accessory, which this version lacks—hence the fewer accessories.
Other than the accessories, the sculpt and 2.0 body type are identical in both versions. The main difference is in the colors: while the original sticks closer to the anime, this SDCC version has brighter or metallic colors, a paler skin tone, and a semi-translucent SSJ hairstyle.
At listacompletade.com, we recommend the original over this version because it’s more complete—if you can find it at a good price.
